GRUNDY CENTER — The North Tama girls’ track and field team finished 11th out of a dozen teams at the competitive Harry Dole Classic Coed last Friday night in Grundy Center with distance runner Rachael Murty leading the way with 11 points.
North Tama totaled 25 points in the meet, just four points behind Gladbrook-Reinbeck (29) in 10th place. The host Spartans won the meet with 115 points.
Sophomore Murty took silver in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 12 minutes, 42.73 seconds, finishing behind Oelwein’s Ashlyn Sauser (11:01.25) and earning eight points for North Tama. She also took seventh in the 1,500 with a finish of 6:02.50, earning another three points for the team.
Murty’s teammate Gabriella Seda secured a fifth-place finish in the 400-meter dash (1:06.68) for four points, while sophomore Olivia Youngblood came in seventh earning two points for the Redhawks. Freshman Shawna Cibula crossed the finish line sixth in the 800 (2:36.13) for another three points.
North Tama’s 4×800 relay team of Seda, Youngblood, Isla Breakenridge, and Cibula scored fifth in 10:47.89 for four points.

Other Redhawk finishes included freshmen Brynley Seda 20th and Calleigh Staker 29th in the 100-meter dash. Seda and Staker also finished 14th and 16th, respectively, in the 200.
Breakenridge and Murty ran the 800 alongside Cibula, coming in 11th and 18th, respectively.
In the 400-meter hurdles, sophomore Violet Seda finished eighth in 1:29.53
Freshman Lily Sell earned 13th in the discus with a throw of 73 feet, 3 inches; she finished 17th in shot put (27 feet, 10 1/2 inches).

The Redhawk boys finished in last place at Grundy Center with 23 points, just behind GMG in ninth with 25 points. Waverly-Shell Rock and the host Spartans tied for first with 163 points.
Scoring finishes for North Tama included sophomore Brayton Cibula who took fourth in the high jump (5-4); senior Tyrus Luker who took sixth in the 100-meter dash (11.97) and also eighth in the 200 (24.62); sophomore Kane Kucera who was sixth in the 400-meter dash (55.78); the 4×100 meter relay team of Ben Boldy, Kucera, Braydon Stickles, and Luker which finished eighth; and the sprint medley team of Boldy, Jordan Dostal, Luker, and Kucera which finished seventh.
Junior Ty Guthrie tallied five points for the Redhawks with his fourth-place finish in discus (128 feet, 1 inch).
