DES MOINES – North Tama sent five athletes to this year’s Iowa High School Track & Field Championships which took place May 22-24 at Drake Stadium in Des Moines. And while no top-8 medals were earned, all five notched personal or season records in their respective events.

Redhawk Tyrus Luker – who graduated with the Class of 2025 the weekend prior – finished 16th in the Class 1A boys 100-meter dash preliminaries with a time of 11.52 seconds, setting a personal record in the process to cap off his final season. Luker was seeded No. 22 ahead of the event with a time of 11.55.

North Tama’s girls 4X800 meter relay team of Shawna Cibula, Olivia Youngblood, Isla Breakenridge, and Gabby Seda set a personal record of their own, also finishing 16th with a time of 10 minutes, 19.14 seconds. The quartet was seeded 15th ahead of the event with a time of 10:27.27.
