North Tama takes down No. 8 Don Bosco, 2-1

TRAER — Clayton Williams drove in two runs with a sixth-inning single and Josh Dostal went the distance on the mound as the North Tama baseball team knocked off Class 1A No. 8 Don Bosco in the Thursday, June 12 Iowa Star Conference showdown at J.L. Lister Field.
Kolt Knaack and Dostal singled to start the bottom of the sixth, and Williams came through with the hit two outs later to lift the Redhawks (8-4) to their first win over Don Bosco (12-3) in 10 years.
Tucker Youngblut drove in David Schmitz with one out in the top of the seventh for the Dons, but Dostal got cleanup hitter Kyler Sallis to ground out to leave the tying run stranded on base.
Dostal allowed four hits, walked four and hit a batter but minimized the damage, striking out one. Kayler Morris had the team’s only hit that wasn’t in the bottom of the sixth.
