North Tama girls finish second at Iowa Star XC meet

WAVERLY — The North Tama girls finished in second place out of five scoring teams to lead the locals at the Iowa Star Conference cross country meet on Thursday, Oct. 16, at Wartburg College.

Rachael Murty placed sixth to lead the Redhawks with a time of 21 minutes, 26.7 seconds. Shawna Cibula was 11th in 22:26.4, followed by Aniston Cooper (16th, 23:17.4), Isla Breakenridge (19th, 23:40.7) and Gabby Seda (23rd, 24:25.8).

North Tama totaled 45 points to trail only Collins-Maxwell’s 26 in the five-team final standings. Janesville was third with 85, Meskwaki was fourth at 99, and Cedar Ridge Christian came in fifth (104).

Grace Mathern led GMG’s contingent with a 15th-place finish in 23:12.0. Taelyn Sash scored 27th in 25:23.3.

On the boys’ side, none of the local schools fielded complete teams. GMG was led by Brayton Davis in 16th place in 19:15.9, while Henry Dieleman came away with 18th place (19:45.6). Cayd Cooper of North Tama came away with 38th (22:19.1).
