SEASON PREVIEW: Union Knights Girls Basketball

LA PORTE CITY – Coach Matt Craft is back for his second season at the helm as the Union girls basketball program continues to grow and gain experience.

Seniors this season include Bailey Brown, Addie Engel, Reagan Glenn, Alivia Keegan, and Addie Pospisil. Juniors include Sophia Byrnes-West, Abbie Estling, Hailey Petersen, Grace Ruzicka, and Taylen Smith. Sophomores include Reece Anderson, Libby Clark, CJ Craft, Haylee Hegdahl, Ellie Pospisil, Chloe Sadler, and Raelynn Wildeboer. Freshmen include Peyton Brown, Haylee Grote, Kenley Hoover, Taryn Petersen, Paige Pipho, Olivia Schildroth, Maddie Schmitz, Linkyn Vaughn, and Avery Weber.

“We are excited to get the year started. We have 26 girls out this year, giving us the largest roster in the NICL Conference,” Coach Craft said. “The girls had an excellent summer and we look to build upon that. We are going to play faster, be more aggressive defensively and look to push tempo and use our athleticism.”

“Reagan Glenn is a two-time returning all-conference member and she is joined by returning starters Addie Pospisil and Reece Anderson. We have great competition around them for other starting roles and playing time and the girls are positively pushing each other every day in practice.”

The Knights first game is set for Tuesday, Nov. 25, at home against Grundy Center. Tipoff is at 7:30 p.m.
