North Tama girls overcome GMG in final quarter for conference win

TRAER – The North Tama girls basketball team notched a narrow 35-31 Iowa Star-South conference win at home here over the GMG Wolverines on Thursday, Jan. 8. While GMG led for much of the first half, the teams played hot potato with the lead throughout the second half. Sophomore Shawna Cibula (third photo) led North Tama, scoring a dozen points and recording three assists. She also had four rebounds and a team-high six steals. Senior Gabriella Seda (pictured as she attempts a three-pointer in first photo) had eight points and six rebounds, plus five steals and a block. Sophomore Isla Breakenridge (fourth photo) came off the bench to contribute nine points and two steals. Senior Kruiz Ewoldt (second photo) took control of the Redhawk defense with 10 rebounds and four steals. The following evening, North Tama secured another win, taking down non-conference Janesville, 48-38, on the road. Heading into this past week, the Redhawks were 7-4 (4-2) on the season.
