LE GRAND — Union Community used a fast start to fight off the East Marshall girls’ basketball team, winning 47-36 in the Tuesday, Jan. 27, North Iowa Cedar League clash. Per the Union Booster Club, the team’s “continued improvement has given the Knights their best season dating back to the 2016-2017 campaign.”

The Knights (5-11, 4-9) got out to a 15-5 lead after the opening quarter and never trailed, pulling away in the fourth period for the victory.

Paige Pipho racked up 16 points and five steals to lead Union, and Reese Anderson added 11 points and five steals.

Sydney Hull, Mya Gould and Alivia Neuroth scored eight points apiece to lead East Marshall (5-12, 2-12), which lost its fourth-straight. Ashtyn Wheater finished with six points and team-highs of 12 rebounds and four steals. Kiela Wolf contributed three points, 11 rebounds and four assists, and Addy Denham added a 3-pointer.
