TRAER – North Tama senior guard Kayler Morris not only led his team to a 57-41 conference victory here over the visiting BCLUW Comets on Tuesday, Feb. 3, he also scored his 1,000th career point. Morris scored a game-high 23 points – including five 3-pointers! – for the Redhawks that evening in tandem with Senior Night celebrations. He also had one assist, one rebound, and four steals. Per Morris’ mom Kajun, he now occupies the No. 7 slot at North Tama for career points. “The hard work, the dedication, the late nights in the gym after practice is done, staying to shoot after school…If you know Kayler you know he lives in the gym and always has a ball in his hand. This kid has put in the work in the off season and no one deserves this more!” she wrote on social media following the game. As of press time, Morris was No. 2 in the Iowa Star-South conference for points scored this season with 355, behind only Baxter senior Eli Dee’s 627. He was also No. 1 in the conference for steals (64) and tied for No. 2 for 3-pointers made (40).
