Redhawks fall to Regents in regional opener, cap best season in a decade

TRAER — The North Tama girls basketball team saw its 2025-26 campaign come to a close last week on Thursday, Feb. 12, falling to Cedar Ridge Christian, 40-28, in a Class 1A Region 2 first round contest on their home court.

The Redhawks (12-9) and Regents (11-10) entered the postseason matchup with plenty of familiarity, having split their two regular season clashes. North Tama claimed a 43-25 win late last month after Cedar Ridge Christian earned a narrow 48-44 victory on Jan. 5.

Statistics for North Tama were unavailable as of press time.

Despite the loss, North Tama closes the season with its strongest overall record in a decade. Under first-year head coach Greg Criswell, the Redhawks finished 12-10 overall, 7-5 in the Iowa Star-South division – the program’s best mark since the 2015-16 season when North Tama went 15-9.

With the victory over North Tama, Cedar Ridge Christian advanced to the regional quarterfinal round to face Lake Mills (15-5) this past Tuesday.
