TRAER – North Tama’s Anthony Dudys has once again been invited to compete in the 2026 Junior Olympic Air Pistol Championship.

Dudys, a junior at North Tama High School, has demonstrated impressive dedication and talent in the sport of shooting. He began shooting in fourth grade and has continued to build his skills and success each year.

He was once again named Iowa State Champion in both air pistol and sport pistol and has earned another invitation to compete in the Junior Olympics.

His hard work and commitment have also earned him the opportunity to practice at the Olympic Training Center and meet Olympic athletes.

Dudys competes on both the Traer Air Gun (TAG) team and the Steel Shooters of Traer team, part of the Iowa Scholastic Action Shooting Program (SASP). TAG is an air gun program that focuses on building important skills such as aiming, concentration and upper body strength while helping young athletes develop their shooting abilities. The Scholastic Action Shooting Program (SASP) is a nationwide youth development program that provides students the opportunity to participate in competitive shooting sports in a safe and structured environment while emphasizing firearm safety, responsibility, teamwork and leadership.

As a member of Steel Shooters of Traer, and TAG, Dudys has earned numerous medals both individually and as part of a team.

“Anthony is an amazing shooting athlete, whether it is for TAG or Steel Shooters,” Steel Shooters of Traer Coach Krystal Meggers said. “Watching his talents grow over the years has been a fun journey. I shouldn’t speak for [Coach] Pete [Holden], but I know he is just as proud and impressed with Anthony as I am.”
