Redhawk relays earn conference titles at Iowa Star girls’ meet

MESKAWKI SETTLEMENT – The North Tama relay team of Shawna Cibula, Isla Breakenridge, Olivia Youngblood, and Gabriella Seda ran their way to two conference championships during the Iowa Star track and field meet on Thursday, May 7, at Meskwaki Settlement School.
The Redhawks scored all 38 team points that evening, highlighted by the pair of first-place relay finishes, including the 4×400 in a season’s best 4 minutes, 26.27 seconds, and the 4×800 in another season’s best of 10 minutes, 24.04 seconds.
North Tama also got a bronze-medal finish from the distance medley team which crossed the finish in 4:44.77.
Sophomore Isla Breakenridge took sixth in the 800-meter run (2:35.59), while Gabriella Seda finished seventh in the 400-meter hurdles.
Distance runner Rachael Murty was seventh in the 1500-meter race, finishing in 5:48.13.
North Tama tied for ninth place overall alongside Colo-NESCO and Rockford out of 16 teams. Baxter won the meet with 139 points, followed by Janesville (80), Collins-Maxwell (69) and BCLUW (54).
