Redhawk girls’ 4×8 PRs at state championships

DES MOINES – North Tama’s girls 4×800-meter relay team of sophomores Shawna Cibula and Isla Breakenridge, junior Olivia Youngblood, and senior anchor Gabriella Seda raced their way to a personal record at the 2026 Iowa High School Track & Field Championships on Thursday, May 21, in Des Moines, earning 13th place with a time of 10 minutes, 14.71 seconds.

The quartet was seeded No. 14 heading into the Class 1A race Thursday morning. The Lady Redhawks finished just a fraction of a second behind 12th-place Mount Ayr’s time of 10:14.68, while breaking the PR they set back on May 14 at the Class 1A district meet in Belle Plaine, shaving off 0.65 seconds.

This was the second year in a row the squad qualified for state in the Class 1A race. At the 2025 state meet, they finished 16th with a time of 10:19.14.
