The annual summer Whannel Family Reunion was held at Hickory Hills Park North of Dysart. Eighty-five relatives attended the eightieth annual Whannel Family Reunion this past June. The first reunion of the “clan” was held in Taylor Park, Traer in 1929. Family members begin arriving at the campsite friday for a family gathering to enjoy a fish fry and fellowship by the campfire. Saturday events included an early morning golf tournament, afternoon games for the children, potluck dinner, evening talent show, skits, followed by live music and fellowship by the campfire. Family comes from as far as California, Illinois, Kansas, Minnesota and Iowa.
