Dysart Book Club on the lookout for new members
The Dysart Book Club met March 7 at the Norma Anders Public Library to discuss Shell Games: The Life and Times of Pearl McGill, Industrial Spy and Pioneer Labor Activist by Jeffrey S. Copeland.
The book is about the battle for safe and humane working conditions in the pearl button industry during the early 20th Century in Muscatine, Iowa. Copeland is the Head of the Department of Languages and Literatures at the University of Northern Iowa.
The Dysart Book Club encourages anyone interested in joining to contact the library at 319-476-5210. There are no dues, no officers, no treats, and there is no stress. Norma Anders Public Library provides copies of the book for each Dysart Book Club member’s use.
