Shannon VerSteeg and Jared Stanton of Glendale, Arizona, formerly of Marshalltown, were united in marriage on May 30, 2009, at First Baptist Church in Marshalltown. Pastors Blair Benefield and Steven Brant, brother-in-law of the groom, officiated.

Parents of the couple are Delos and Jody Steward, Don (Ray) and Jenni VerSteeg, and Julie Stanton, all of Marshalltown, and Alan and Mona Stanton of Haverhill. Shannon was presented in marriage by her father and wore an elegant white strapless beaded gown by Alfred Angelo. She carried a beautiful bouquet of white orchids, Stargazer lilies, and Anna roses. She also wore a pearl necklace that belonged to her great-grandmother, brought back from Japan by her grandfather. Maid of honor was Ashley VerSteeg, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Kiley VerSteeg, sister of the bride, and Megan Stanton, sister of the groom. They wore strapless black satin gowns with sequins by Alfred Angelo. Flower girl was Haven Steward, cousin of the bride. Best man was Nick Stanton, brother of the groom. Groomsmen were Caleb Beyer and Jess Sorensen, both friends of the couple. They wore black tuxedos with fuchsia vests. Ring bearer was James Brant, nephew of the groom. Ushers were Ryan Martin and Greg Sellers, cousins of the bride. A reception and dance followed the ceremony at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Marshalltown with Jack and Denise Shannon of Monroe and Steven and Amy Brant of Marshalltown hosting.

Special guests present at the wedding were grandparents Carl and Maxine Martin of Delta, Loma Steward of LeGrand, Bill and Marlene VerSteeg of Knoxville, Doris Axline of Marshalltown, Jerry and Carole Hadley of Dysart, Ed and Betty Stanton of Haverhill, and great-grandmother Rose Stalzer of Haverhill. Jared and Shannon are both graduates of Marshalltown High School and Drake University in 2007. Shannon is presently teaching 3rd grade in Glendale at Charter School and Jared is in his third year of podiatry school at Midwestern University in Glendale. After a honeymoon trip to Playa del Carmen, Mexico, the couple is at home in Glendale, Arizona.
