Metropolitan Chorale begins rehearsals for Mozart’s Requiem

Singers won’t want to miss the opportunity to join Metropolitan Chorale’s sixty-third season as the well-known community choir prepares its November 12 concert.

Something about singing Mozart is very special, and this fall, Metropolitan Chorale will experience that special something, singing Mozart’s Requiem, the final, haunting composition of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, popularized in the movie Amadeus (1984). The November 12 performance will take place at the Gallagher Bluedorn Performing Arts Center.

The concert will feature the first collaboration between Metropolitan Chorale, a premier community of singers under the direction of Amy Kotsonis, and Bel Canto Cedar Valley, a forty-voiced auditioned chamber choir, directed by Nick Klemetson.

Metropolitan Chorale is open to all persons high school age or older who enjoy singing and who love to learn and perform. A non-auditioned group, the choir attracts a wide variety of singers from across the Cedar Valley and beyond. Seasoned singers and novices are invited to join Metropolitan Chorale.

Registration and first rehearsal will take place on Monday evening, August 28, at Nazareth Lutheran Church, 7401 University Avenue, Cedar Falls IA. Registration begins at 6:30 and rehearsal at 7:00. Membership fee is $50. Music is additional. Rehearsals will take place at Nazareth Lutheran Church on Monday evenings, excepting Labor Day, from 7:00 until 9:00. A choral retreat will take place on Saturday, September 9, from 9:00 until noon.
