Hora-Machacek holds sewing day and meeting

Hora-Machacek Legion Auxiliary held a sewing day at the Clutier post home. It was on Wednesday, November 8th beginning at 9am. The following ladies attended: Linda Dvorak, Mary Seda, Marlus Svoboda, Pauline Sienknecht, Eileen Hora, Lillian Dostal, Julia Babinat, Marcella Caslavka, and Veronica Pavlicek. Three ladies sewed quilt squares for lap robes and one sewed strips into rag balls. Rest of the ladies cut and joined plastic bags for sleeping mats. All above projects are for our veterans. At noon all enjoyed a delicious potluck.

President Veronica conducted our monthly meeting in the afternoon. Last months minutes were read. Treasurer had sent report so Veronica reviewed with the group. After serving the 40&8 supper in September Linda Dvorak made a motion seconded by Eileen Hora to send the profit to 40&8 nurses scholarship fund. Motion carried.

Bake sale was a gigantic success due to members wonderful bakes goods and monetary donations. Those helping with the sale were Marlus Svoboda, Diane Caloud, Linda Dvorak, Pauline Sienknecht, and Veronica Pavlicek. I as president want to send a special thanks to all who helped make this sale a great success.

Letter was read from IVH thanking us for the donated items we had sent from the items needed list. Thank you letter was read from Fred Kock, Commissaire Intendent Locale 568 40&8 for the monetary donation. The donation was the profit from us serving the 40&8 supper in July.

IVH Christmas Open House is December 2nd form 1 to 3:30pm. The gift wrap is December 5th and 6th beginning at 8am at Malloy LRC. Call and reserve your spot for dinner. The residents pick out gifts for friends and relatives and the volunteers assist them with wrapping and mailing their gifts.

Joint Tama County meeting is Tuesday, November 28th at 7pm at Tama post home. A memorial service will be held for deceased Legion and Auxiliary members since last November.

Our December meeting will be the 5th at 2pm at the post home. Bring canned goods and paper products for the local food pantry. Bring them to the meeting. We will be making nut cups for IVH with a winter theme. Plans are to work on them at our meeting.
