Dysart Historical Society’s Country School Day set for July 23

DYSART – The sixth annual Country School Day will be held at the Dysart Historical Center’s Country School at 612 Crisman Street on Tuesday, July 23. The theme will be “A Day at An 1890’s Country School.” The teacher again this year will be Shelby Janssen who is currently a second grade teacher at Gladbrook-Reinbeck Elementary.

The event is open to students who will be in fourth, fifth or sixth grade this coming fall.

The day will be spent with stories, creative activities and games. A morning snack and an 1890s style picnic sack lunch will be provided. Students will be fitted with costumes appropriate to the 1890s with aprons and sunbonnets for the girls and vests and straw hats for the boys.

The day will be from 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m., ending with a program for families and friends at 3:30 p.m.
