Get ready for an unforgettable summer of adventure with Tama County 4-H!

TOLEDO – Tama County 4-H is gearing up for an action-packed summer filled with exciting activities for youth of all ages! And you do not have to be a 4-H member to attend!

Whether you’re eager to explore the great outdoors, try something new, or make lasting memories with friends, this summer is all about adventure.

With a variety of events designed to engage, challenge, and inspire, camps include:

Haven Day Camp

Calling all young adventurers! Step back in time on June 6, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Old Haven Schoolhouse south of Chelsea. Experience a day in an old-time schoolhouse with crafts, games, lessons, and plenty of fun! Open to youth who have completed grades K-5. Cost is $15 per child, and registration is due by June 1. Bring a sack lunch.

Epic Epoxy Workshop

Get ready to dive into the exciting world of epoxy as we create custom lazy Susans. Youth will explore design elements and principles to craft unique, eye-catching pieces. This event will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on June 9, at the Tama County Extension Office. Open to those who have completed grades 6-12, and cost is $25. Registration is due by May 29.

Adventures Unlimited – Overnight Camp

Get ready for an overnight adventure like no other. A camp to make new friends, create lasting memories and dive into exciting activities like crafts, outdoor adventures, teamwork challenges and more. This camp is held at Pilgrim Heights on June 10-11 (5 p.m. to 5 p.m.) and is for those who have completed grades 4-6. Cost is $100 for enrolled 4-H members and $110 for non-members. Registration is due by May 27.

Ocean Explores Engineering and Coding LEGO Camp!

Dive into a day of fun and learning where kids will explore the wonders of ocean exploration through hands-on STEAM activities. They’ll design, build, and program LEGO® SPIKE creations while fostering teamwork and creativity. There are two sessions! June 17, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. is for those who have completed grades K-3 and will be held at the Tama County Extension Office. June 23 is camp for those who have completed grades 4-6 and will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Traer Library. Cost for each camp is $15; bring a lunch.

Colorful Creations Art Camp

Let your creativity shine at Art Camp! Dive into a world of colors, fun art techniques and hands-on creativity! Held at the Tama County Extension Office on June 18, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. This camp is for those who have completed grades K-5. Cost is $20; bring a sack lunch. Register by June 11.

Hooked on Fishing

Ready to reel in some fun? Join us for a Fishing Camp on June 25, at Union Grove Lake, Gladbrook from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.! For all youth who have completed grades 3-6. There is a $10 fee and registration is due by June 20. Bring a sack lunch.

Books for Cooks

Calling all young chefs who have completed grades K-5! Join us for Books for Cooks on June 26, at the Traer Public Library for a fun-filled time of cooking and learning. What’s on the menu? Read stories and explore nutrition. Learn kitchen safety and recipe skills. Make and eat delicious food (and take the recipes home). This will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Fee is $15, and registration is due by June 19.

Mechanical Makers Construct, Code, Create!

Working with LEGO bricks to think like engineers and creatively solve complex problems. Perfect day for young engineers and programmers eager to learn and have fun! For those who have completed grades 4-7, this camp will take place at the Tama County Extension Office from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on June 27. The fee is $15, and registration is due by June 20.

Babysitting Basics

Ready to be the best babysitter on the block? Whether you’re looking to start babysitting for extra cash or just want to feel confident watching younger siblings, Babysitting Basics is for you! Held at the Chelsea Public Library on June 30, from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., this class is for those who have completed grades 5-12. Thanks to a Tama County Community Foundation grant, this event is FREE. Register by June 23.

Critter Camp

Join Tama County 4-H for a fun day at Critter Camp on July 2, at Toledo Heights. Learn about flying creatures and expect stories, games, snack and crafts. Choose one session: 9 a.m. to noon, OR 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Cost is $10; registration is due by June 25.

State 4-H Conference

Held June 24-26 on the campus of Iowa State University, those who have completed 8th- 12th grade are invited for three days of speakers, workshops, dances, mixers, banquet, service-learning activities and more! You do not have to be enrolled in 4-H to attend. Cost is $250, and financial assistance is available. The deadline to register is June 1. Contact the Tama County Extension Office for registration information.

The fees for service will be used to offset direct expenses of the program. Full refunds will be issued if a camp is canceled due to low registrations or weather. No refund will be given for participants who cancel less than 48 hours in advance or do not show up.
