LA PORTE CITY – All schools in the Union Community School District earned a rating of “Commendable” or higher in the Iowa Department of Education’s 2024-25 School Performance Profiles.
Union High School received a “High Performing” designation, marking its highest rating since 2017-18 and placing it third among schools in its athletic conference. Union Middle School was rated Commendable, its strongest showing since 2020-21 and just two points shy of a High Performing rating. Dysart-Geneseo Elementary also earned a High Performing rating, its highest since 2020-21. La Porte City Elementary continued its consistent record with a Commendable rating and has earned either Commendable or High Performing status every year since 2017-18.
“We are extremely proud that all our schools are rated Commendable or higher,” Superintendent John Howard said. “This is our strongest performance in four years and reflects the academic progress our students are making as well as the dedication of our staff to continually raise the bar.”
The annual profiles reflect accountability ratings for all Iowa public schools based on a range of performance measures, including student achievement, growth, and learning conditions. Launched in 2018, the initiative fulfills state and federal reporting requirements by providing transparent report cards for families and communities.
