LA PORTE CITY – Pending board approval later this month, the Union Community School District has named Collin Arndt as its new student success coordinator and 9th-12th grade activities director.

Arndt brings several years of experience leading athletic and activities programs in northeast Iowa. He currently serves as the activities director at Don Bosco Catholic School and previously held the same role at Clayton Ridge Community School District. He will replace Michael Bruns at Union.

“Collin brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to this position,” Union High School Principal Jason Toenges said. “We were very impressed throughout the interview process and look forward to seeing him build on the strong foundation already established at Union.”

In addition to his work as an activities director, Ardnt has been a coach, physical education teacher, and bus driver.

“Collin has demonstrated success as an activities director in multiple northeast Iowa school districts,” Superintendent John Howard said. “His commitment to students, dedication to excellence, integrity, and professionalism have been evident throughout his career. We are confident he will provide outstanding leadership for our activities programs and continue fostering a positive, successful environment for our students. We look forward to welcoming him to our team.”

Arndt earned a bachelor’s degree in physical education from the University of Northern Iowa and an associate degree from Ellsworth Community College.

“I am incredibly grateful to join the Union Community School District,” Arndt said. “My goal is to protect the strong culture already in place while encouraging everyone to give their best each day.”

Beginning July 1, Bruns will take over as principal of Union Middle School while also retaining the role of 7th and 8th grades activities director.
