The Traer Municipal Utilities Board recently released the appraisal on the natural gas system for Traer.

N T Academic Decathlon team goes to Cedar Rapids.

At the special board meeting held Tuesday, Jan. 27 for Traer Municipal Utilties the Board of Trustees passed a resolution to request similar information to that of the appraisal regarding the natural gas system in Traer from Interstate Power and Light Co.

February 26

Contruction is underway for Sunrise Hill Care & Rehab Center’s new addition.

After months in the process, the official letter from the Vision Iowa /CAT committee merely states that the Traer Salt and Pepper Museum CAT application did not meet the minimum score required to be considered by the Vision Iowa Board.

In a special election held Tuesday, March 3 the voters of Traer voted “Yes” to grant a 20 year franchise to Interstate Power & Light Company to erect, construct, reconstruct, maintain and operate a natural gas utility within the corporate limits if the city of Traer.

City of Traer experiences citywide power outage- Last Thursday, April 16 at about 7:30 a.m. the town of Traer lost all power.

The power outage was caused by a bird landing on a transformer and getting across the high voltage wires which caused the fuses to blow according to Mike McKinney, Traer Municipal Utilities employee.

April 30

A familiar site, heavy rains flood fields and golf course-Heavy rains over the weekend flooded area fields and the Traer Golf Course. Many farmers will be forced to replant fields and rebuild water ways after the rain water subsides. The Traer area received 5.37 inches of rain on Saturday and Sunday.

Traer Theatre to raise prices.

Crash near Clutier leaves one dead and two injured.

Junior, Dylan Youel, son of Cindy and Josh Youel of Traer, now holds the school record in the 110m High Hurdles for North Tama. The record fell Tuesday, April 21 at the Wolverine Relays in Dike.

Sara Stoakes runs the 400m hurdles at the Drake Relays, Saturday, April 25 in Des Moines. Stoakes’ knees showing the results of the dive at the finish of the 800m race from the day before. Stoakes finished the hurdles in a time of 63.21 for an impressive second place.

Gold Star member Audrey Babinat was honored Tuesday, May 19th by the American Legion Auxiliary and Evelyn Harrison, Gold Star Chairman, at the annual Gold Star Dinner. Audrey lost her brother Gerald Fettkether in the Vietnam War, February 8, 1967. Gerald served in the US Army.

Traer family home when fire broke out- The Traer Fire Department was summoned to the house at 804 Elm Street, Traer, Sunday, June 7 at 7:05 p.m. The fire was believed to have started from an electical problem. The residents were home at the time the fire broke out and no one was injured.
