The Union High School golf team has five meets under its belt, including qualifying. The Knights have had several good performances from their seniors and underclassmen, with Miller leading the way. He shot a 50 in qualifying, followed by a 51 in the meet against Northern Univeristy High. But the last three weeks meant an increase in competition, and Miller improved his game. He shot a 45 against South Hardin, a 45 against Jesup and a 47 against Gladbrook-Reinbeck.

Holub has also posted good rounds, with his best coming in qualifying. There, he shot a 43. After shooting a 48 against Northern, he shot a 54, 48 and 45 in the next three meets.

Hinders, who shot a 43 in qualifying as well, is helping the team out with his strong rounds at 52, 48, 47 and 53, respectively.

Lynn, who did not participate in the meet at Gladbrook-Reinbeck, is averaging a 49.3 after shooting a 50, 49, 47 and 51.

After shooting a 47 in qualifying, Goken had an off round at Northern, shooting a 55, before rebounding and shooting a 49, 47 and 52 in his next three meets.

Brandt, averaging a 50.4 on the season, shot a 48 in qualifying before going on to shoot a 54, 46, 54 and 50 in regular season action.

Among the other athletes who participated in all five meets this year, Klein shot a 46, 58, 51, 49 and 51, while Roetger shot a 53, 53, 53, 48 and 51.

The Knights are in action this Friday, April 20, at Benton (Van Horne) beginning at 4:15 p.m. They will also participate in an invitational tournament Saturday, April 21, at Grundy Center at 8 a.m.

The team resumes match play on Tuesday, April 24, at the La Porte City Golf Course against Denver.
