Emotions ran high Thursday evening heading into Class 1A No. 13 North Tama’s 3-0 conference sweep of Collins-Maxwell as the Redhawks senior class was honored alongside their parents.

Redhawks Coach Channing Halstead was visibly affected as she gave hugs to each of her senior players during the recognition ceremony which took place in the gym ahead of the Varsity game.

“This group of girls are exceptional young women off the court, as well as on,” Coach Halstead said in a statement. “They have trusted, respected, and built the North Tama volleyball program throughout their careers with us, and we are beyond thankful for that respect and love they demonstrate.”

Senior players Kaitlyn Calderwood, Aubree Monat, Mya Sierra, Molly Vogeler, as well as managers Kirstan Jans and Daniela Moraru were recognized for their contributions to the Redhawks team which has seen success after success the past several seasons under Halstead.

Following the emotional ceremony, the Redhawks handily topped the Spartans 25-4, 25-8, and 25-12 Thursday evening.

They dropped one match to the Class 4A No.4 Marion Wolves in two sets (12-25, 13-25).
