The former Czech Point bar and restaurant located at 319 Main Street in Clutier reopened the week before Thanksgiving under a new name – Bohemian Blonde – and new ownership – Clutier resident Steph Kupka – much to the delight of all who hoped the darkening of the former business’s doors in October would not be its last. Czech Point – which debuted in December 2020 under new-owners-at-the-time Michael and Lisa Wojcik – was operational for less than a year before closing this past October. Kupka – who grew up in Clutier – purchased the business in hopes of revitalizing the community and “fixing up the town” as she said on a recent Thursday afternoon from behind the bar where she stood with her daughter Bexley, 6, in her arms. “I have a lot of roots here,” Kupka said, “My grandma had a thick Czech accent.” Kupka – whose day job is Parts Manager at Thys Motor Co. in Belle Plaine – lamented about the fleeting nature of the previous businesses that occupied the conjoined bar/restaurant she now owns as her new bartender Delores Dailing restocked some 25 different beer selections and her young daughter snacked on pretzels after getting off the school bus. Bohemian Blonde will be open Thursdays and Fridays from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., Saturdays from 11:00 a.m. to midnight, and on Sundays from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Those hours will be adhered to regardless of business, Dailing said, but the bar will stay open later if customers are present. Bohemian Blonde currently features a weekly pepper tournament on Thursdays beginning at 7:00 p.m., regular live music, and as of Wednesday, Dec. 8, “Iowa’s waters” Busch Lite on tap. The kitchen has been slowly opening – just serving pizza in the early days – but will soon be offering a more robust menu.
