Brycelyn Natasha Haughey
Brycelyn Natasha Haughey, 22, of Toledo appeared in district court on Feb. 10 and entered a written arraignment and plea of not guilty to four counts of sexual explotation by a school employee (Class D felony) and one count of dissemination and exhibition of obscene material to minors (serious misdemeanor). According to the criminal complaint, Haughey was employed as a paraeducator by GMG Community School District during the 2020-2021 school year. During that time, Haughey is alleged to have begun a sexual relationship with the victim in this case, a GMG student at the time. On Dec. 27, 2021, a no contact order was issued in district court; Haughey was ordered to have no contact with the victim. Haughey waived her right to a speedy trial. A jury trial is set for May 16, at 9:00 a.m. Haughey is represented by Scott Hunter of the Marshalltown Public Defender’s Office.
Scott Lawrence Reavis
Scott Lawrence Reavis, 59, of Dunkerton appeared in district court on Feb. 24 and entered a written arraignment and plea of not guilty to charges including four counts of stalking-violation of a protective order (Class D felony) and one count of harassment-second degree (serious misdemeanor). Charges relate to multiple incidents which took place on or about Oct. 27, 2021, Nov. 5, 2021, and Nov. 18, 2021, at the victim’s residence in Tama County. Reavis and the victim have a no contact order currently in effect that was issued through Tama County Courts on Sept. 7, 2021, as part of a previous, ongoing case. Reavis allegedly violated the no contact order by showing up to the victim’s Traer address while the victim was present. Reavis is further alleged to have left the victim threatening messages. Reavis waived his right to a speedy trial. A jury trial is set for June 6, 2022, at 9:00 a.m. Reavis is represented by attorney Carl Frederick Stiefel of Victor. According to court documents, Reavis is a habitual offender as a result of having two prior felony convictions: on or about Feb, 28, 1996, Reavis was convicted of /received a deferred judgment for unauthorized possession of offensive weapons; on or about Sept. 14, 2001, Reavis was convicted of /received a deferred judgment for controlled substance violation.
