Union-North Tama girls soccer rout GC/GR 5-1 on Senior Night
The Union-North Tama girls soccer team celebrated Senior Night with a decisive win over Grundy Center/Gladbrook-Reinbeck on Thursday, April 28, by routing the Rebels 5-1 – boosting their record to 3-4 as they enter the final two weeks of the regular season.
Seniors honored during the game included Union players Lizzie Borton, Alana Higgins, and Gracie Rathe, and North Tama’s Aubree Monat who proved her worth and then some Thursday evening by scoring the first goal of the game in the initial 30 seconds – one of two goals she scored against the Rebels’ defense.
In addition to Monat, Union’s offensive leaders included junior Jaiden Bush who scored one goal and sophomore Molly Grote who continued her stellar run this season with two goals and four assists.
The following Monday, May 2, Union was scheduled to take on the previously unranked Class 1A No. 14 Denver (5-3) at home in La Porte City.
Later in the week, the Knights were then set to face Decorah (2-7) on the road Thursday, May 5, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at Decorah High School.
The previously ranked Class 1A No. 12 Knights dropped from the rankings in Week 4 on April 21.
