Hora-Machacek Auxiliary holds June meeting

The Hora-Machacek Legion Auxiliary Post 453 met on Tuesday, June 7, at the Clutier post home. There were four members in attendance. President Veronica opened the meeting at 1:30 p.m. She called the roll and read last month’s minutes which were approved as read. Treasurer Diane gave the unit’s financial report. Collette made a motion seconded by Pauline to send a monetary thank you to Doug Minor. He had made the poppies that we had ordered and received. Motion carried. Filled out the Poppy Distribution Report and mailed it to the Dept in Des Moines.

Auxiliary members helping decorate graves on Saturday, May 28, were Pauline S, Carolyn B, Jackie & Courtney C, and Diane C. On Monday, May 30, Diane C. Carolyn B, and Pauline S. assisted the Legion with ceremonies at the cemeteries.

Tama County President Diane informed us of the upcoming Foreign Food Fair at IVH on July 16. Our unit is to furnish 5 dozen kolaches and start time is 11 a.m. IVH picnic sponsored by Tama County units will be August 6. Diane will be letting units know what to bring. Tama County joint meeting will be Tuesday, June 28, at Gladbrook post home at 6:30 p.m. The evening will begin with a potluck, then flag disposal ceremony, and meeting following.

Diane made a motion to accept a slate of incumbent officers except vice-president. Collette was nominated and elected Vice-President. Seconded by Pauline. Motion carried. Officers list will be sent to the Dept. in Des Moines.

Diane C. won the door prize. Our next meeting will be August 2, at 1:30 p.m. No July meeting. Collette was hostess and served delicious rhubarb pie.
