The Hora-Machacek Legion Auxiliary met on August 9, 2022, at 3:00 p.m. with 5 members present. President Veronica opened the meeting with a prayer. She read June minutes which were approved as read. Treasurer Diane gave our unit’s financial report.

Diane, county president, reported on the flag disposal ceremony and county meeting which was held June 28 at the Gladbrook post home. Richard and Duane, Clutier Legion members, assisted with the flag disposal ceremony. Ron Busch will be county commander and Diane Caloud county president for the new year 2022-23. Next County meeting is set for October 25 at Elberon with Memorial services to be held.

Foreign Food Fair at IVH was on July 16. 64 residents went through the line. Our unit furnished 5 dozen kolaches.

Tama Co IVH picnic was held on August 6. Diane and Bev represented our unit. We furnish 2 pies and 4 gallons of homegrown sweet corn. The rhubarb pies were made by Collette. Linda had the fresh corn and Diane helped her husk and cut the 4 gallons needed. Diane reported that had run out of several food items. Served 78 residents.

Several bills were presented for payment. Linda made a motion to pay the bills seconded by Pauline. We will be serving lunch to Jean Miller’s family after her funeral on Saturday, August 13. Happy Birthday was sung to Pauline. The door prize was won by Linda. The September meeting will be on the 6th at 1:30 p.m. Diane served egg salad sandwiches and Veronica brought cantaloupe.
