Little Free Libraries are a global phenomenon. The small, front-yard book exchanges number more than 150,000 around the world in over 100 countries from Iceland to Tasmania to Pakistan.

Now, a new Little Free Library located at 905 Clark Street in Dysart will join the movement to share books, bring people together, and create communities of readers.

“Our Little Free Library doesn’t just belong to us, it belongs to the whole community,” says Dysart resident Dwayne Lockhart who erected the new library. “It’s my hope that this Little Free Library will bring a little more joy, a little more connection, and a whole lot more books to our community.”

Little Free Libraries are unique in that each one provides 24/7 book access that is free to all.

According to the nonprofit organization Little Free Library, studies have shown the more books in or near the home, the more likely a child will learn and love to read. Unfortunately, many children have no books at home to call their own – something Little Free Library seeks to remedy through its ‘Take a Book, Share a Book’ philosophy.
