Irvine Prairie to feature free concert July 29
Zimmerman.
DYSART – Kansas-based musician Ann Zimmerman will present an evening of music in celebration of prairie at the Irvine Prairie located northeast of Dysart beginning at 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 29.
According to her website, Zimmerman’s music celebrates “the joy, sorrow, grandeur and silliness of life, especially life on the windy plains.”
In addition to her vocals, Zimmerman plays piano and guitar, and often includes the audience in her performances.
While the July 29 event is free and open to the public, concertgoers are asked to bring water, lawn chairs, comfortable shoes, and their prairie spirit.
The Irvine Prairie, located roughly six miles north of Dysart at 1174 55th Street, is managed and stewarded by the University of Northern Iowa’s Tallgrass Prairie Center. Following a recent second gift of land to the UNI Foundation by rural Dysart resident Cathy Irvine, the preserve will soon be one of the largest tracts of restored prairie in eastern Iowa.
Irvine Prairie is open to the public. Visitors are asked to park on the south side of the road in the grass near the stone marker. A portable bathroom facility is available.
