Iowa PBS to feature Dysart’s Irvine Prairie Oct. 10 & 15

The Irvine Prairie in Dysart will be featured in an upcoming episode of Iowa PBS’s Iowa Life, a new magazine-style series uncovering the diverse tapestry of Iowa’s people, cultures and stories. The episode featuring Irvine Prairie will premiere Tuesday, October 10 at 6:30 p.m. and be rebroadcast Sunday, October 15 at 10:30 a.m.

On the October 10 episode of Iowa Life, viewers will explore Irvine Prairie, a 292 acre prairie-in-progress on the farm of Cathy Irvine, in memory of her husband David. The land is being restored to an ecologically diverse tallgrass prairie that engages current and future generations of students and community members in learning about Iowa’s prairie heritage and appreciating the benefits provided by prairie.The episode will also highlight a Star Trek-themed town festival, a Black Iowan newspaper and a high school mariachi band.

Iowa Life explores the exceptional lives of the individuals who call Iowa home. Through compelling interviews, scenic visuals, and authentic storytelling, the series shines a spotlight on the cultural gems and inspiring stories that make Iowa the fascinating place it is. Viewers will dive into the culture of our state and discover the extraordinary within the ordinary. Season 1 consists of 13, 30-minute episodes, including a holiday special.
