BUCKINGHAM – The Geneseo Alumni Association banquet will be held this year on Saturday, June 8, at the Geneseo Methodist Church located at 3127 115th Street in rural Buckingham.

This year marks the 102nd anniversary of the first graduating class from the Geneseo Consolidated School. Some 130 invites have been sent to alumni as part of this year’s banquet preparations. Responses are due back May 29.

Social hour will take place from 5-6 p.m. with dinner at 6 p.m. and a program to follow.

Earlier in the day, there will be an Open House at the Traer Historical Museum from 3-5 p.m. for alumni and guests to view the new displays, especially the ones featuring Geneseo. A special dedication of an article from the history of the school will take place before it becomes a permanent part of the display at the museum.

During the banquet, Traer Museum volunteer Carol Boyce will give a presentation titled “Geneseo Township Incidents: Too Many?” which will focus on all the Geneseo accidents, fires, disasters, deaths, and drownings she has discovered over the years through her research.

“I’ve often wondered if all the townships are like this or if Geneseo has more than its fair share of disasters,” Boyce told the newspaper. “I’ll let [the audience] draw their own conclusions. My research isn’t finished so they will only get what I have so far but hopefully they will find it interesting.”

If anyone has updated information on alumni or is interested in attending the banquet but did not receive an invitation, please contact Judy Holst at jaholst@windstream.net, or text 319-239-1968.
