Fun days ahead in Clutier

Clutier Fun Day set for Saturday, Aug. 3; Barefoot Becky takes to the streets Aug. 2

CLUTIER – Bring your lawn chairs and join the fun next weekend for two days of entertainment and family-friendly activities as part of the annual town celebration, Clutier Fun Day, and the Bohemian Plum Festival Concert series.

This year’s Clutier Fun Day is set for Saturday, Aug. 3 from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. – rain or shine! – along Main Street between Clutier City Hall and the ZCBJ Hall.

2024 Fun Day activities include:

-FREE hot dogs starting at 11 a.m. while supplies last

-Kids bouncy house from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

-Kiddie Parade down Main Street at 11:30 a.m.

-Grand Parade at noon (note time change from years past)

-Event activities from noon to 6 p.m. including petting zoo, goat chip bingo, money scramble, water balloon toss, water balloon dodge, and a corn hole tournament

The Clutier Vendor Show hosted by Carley’s Creations will take place at ZCBJ Hall all day Saturday as well from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.. The fair will also be open the evening prior – on Friday, Aug. 2 beginning at 4 p.m. — ahead of the annual Bohemian Plum Festival Committee band concert which features Tama County favorite Barefoot Becky and The Ivanhoe Dutchmen. Becky and her bandmates will begin performing on Friday at 7 p.m. along Clutier’s Main Street.

The Clutier Fun Day finale this year is a free concert Saturday evening by the band Eli Alger and The Faster Horses who hail from Nashville, Tenn. Alger, a native of Des Moines, fronts the six-member band.

According to the band’s website, “Eli Alger and The Faster Horses is a dynamic and passionate musical ensemble that captivates audiences with their electrifying performances and soul-stirring music. Led by the incredibly talented singer-songwriter Eli Alger, the band’s unique blend of country, rock, and western creates a sound that is both timeless and contemporary.”

New this year and ahead of all the Fun Day activities, the Eminent Wrestling Alliance (EWA) will provide a completely free evening of pro wrestling starting at 6 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 2, at ZCBJ Hall.

“Just bring your own chair and celebrate the community of Clutier with some unforgettable wrestling entertainment,” the pro-wrestling organization posted on Facebook. “Don’t miss out on this spectacular event!”
