Hospital offers Medicare Seminar Sept. 5 and Sept. 23

GRUNDY CENTER — Grundy County Memorial Hospital is offering two sessions of the “Welcome to Medicare” seminar, aimed at those who have questions about Medicare health insurance benefits or are approaching Medicare eligibility and need information about how to enroll.

The free seminar is offered at 4 p.m. on Sept. 5 at the Reinbeck Public Library and will be repeated at 5 p.m. on Sept. 23 at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center. The free class is sponsored by the State of Iowa’s Senior Health Insurance Information Program and Grundy County Memorial Hospital. Trained SHIIP volunteers will present information about:

• Medicare Parts A & B benefits

• Prescription Drug benefits (Part D)

• Medicare Supplemental Insurance

• Medicare Advantage plans

The education program is recommended for those who will be turning age 65 in the next six to twelve months or those who wish to learn more about the various options Medicare offers for health insurance coverage for those age 65 and over. In addition, trained SHIIP volunteers help Medicare beneficiaries explore options in free one-on-one sessions throughout the year, also free -of-charge and located at the hospital. Pre-registration is needed for there to be materials for each participant. Phone Grundy County Memorial Hospital at 319-824-5081 to register for one of the two seminars or to make an appointment to meet individually with a trained SHIIP volunteer. There is no cost for either service. Registration for each seminar is requested one week in advance if possible.
