Hora-Machacek Auxiliary holds sewing day

CLUTIER – Hora-Machacek Legion Auxiliary held a sewing day on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2025, at the post home in Clutier. The day began at 9 a.m. with the following ladies in attendance: Cyndy B, Diane C, Collette W, Pauline S, Deb K, Brenda H, Ronda E, Sheryl J, Michelle B, Valerie S, Veronica P, and Marilyn S. Six ladies brought their sewing machines and sewed completed lap quilt tops, middles, and backing together. By noon they had sewed 15 lap quilts together. Pauline will take them home and tie them. Have six tops sewed that will be finished in February. Cyndy cut grocery bags for sleep mats. Everyone enjoyed fellowship while machines hummed, and an occasional ouch from pin pricks.
As stated before anyone can come and assist and enjoy fellowship with potluck at noon. All did enjoy a delicious potluck at noon.
President Veronica brought the monthly meeting to order at 1 p.m. with five members present. Veronica called the roll and read November minutes which were approved as read.
Treasurer Diane reported on our finances. She did purchase a microwave and dish drainer for the hall. Marilyn S and Jackie C had put up the Christmas tree the first week in December. Marilyn took down the tree on January meeting day.
Bev C. reported that our unit does not have a Girl Stater this year. Read thank you from the Clutier First Responders for our monetary donation. Collette W. had taken 48 lap quilts to the VA clinic in Waterloo in November. They stated some will be sent to VA hospital in Iowa City.
Birthday card was signed and will be sent to Eileen Hora. Tuesday, Feb. 4, will be a sewing day beginning at 9 a.m. and potluck lunch at noon. Monthly meeting in the afternoon.
