CLUTIER – Ladies from the Hora-Machacek Legion Auxiliary from Clutier carpooled to Pizza Ranch in Grinnell on Tuesday, June 3. Those traveling were: Deb K, Collette W, Marilyn S, Linda D, Tracy S, Pauline S, Diane C, Margaret B, and Julia B. They met Veronica P. there. Noon buffet was enjoyed by all. After lunch President Veronica conducted the unit’s monthly meeting.

Veronica said prayer. Group recited the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag and Constitution to the Auxiliary. Roll call was taken. April and May minutes were read and approved. Treasurer Diane reported on our finances. Thank you was read from IVH for our monetary donation to their recreation fund. Read thank you from Iowa City VA hospital for 27 quilts we had delivered.

Carolyn B, Collette W, and Diane C. placed trellises and crosses at four cemeteries on Saturday, May 24. Trellises were placed on deceased Auxiliary members’ graves and crosses on veteran’s graves. It was reported that there was one additional auxiliary member grave and three additional veteran’s graves since last May. Thank you Collette and Richard for placing poppy canisters in Clutier.

Diane reported on the year end report the unit had done this past year. Had 1,353 volunteer hours, 250 veterans were helped in some way, and 125 quilts were completed and delivered. Diane said that some members wanted to order ALA shirts. She had catalog pages of what could be ordered which was passed around the group and they could indicate if they wanted to order. Have 50 paid members.

Tama County joint meeting is June 24 at Tama post home at 6 p.m. Will have potluck, flag disposal ceremony and meeting. Tama County picnic at IVH is Saturday August 2. Our unit provides two pies and corn. Food and volunteers to be at IVH by 9:45 a.m. and serving to begin at 11 a.m. in the dining room.

There will be no meeting in July. August 5 will be our next meeting at post home at 1:30 p.m. Veronica said the closing prayer and meeting was adjourned. A group picture was taken.
