Hora-Machacek Auxiliary meets; sewing day planned for Sept. meeting

CLUTIER – Hora-Machacek Unit 453 of the American Legion Auxiliary met on Wednesday, Aug. 6, at the post home at 1:30 p.m. There were six members present.
Treasurer Diane C. opened the meeting due to the absence of President Veronica. The vacant chair was read and followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and Preamble to the Auxiliary. The minutes of the June meeting were read by Secretary Margaret B. which were approved as read.
Treasurer’s report was given by Treasurer Diane. It was reported that the Poppy Report was sent in. A bill for two pies and corn for the IVH Picnic was presented and Deb K. moved to pay the bill. Collette seconded and motion carried.
Diane reported on the Tama County meeting held in June in Tama. Diane also reported on the IVH picnic held August 2. Approximately 80 residents were served. Diane C, Linda D and Sue F worked at the picnic.
Diane reported that the Third District Clipper will be emailed twice a year and will be free if emailed. If anyone wants a printed copy, it will be $5 for it to be mailed to them.
Diane will attend a District Workshop on Saturday, Aug. 9 at Conrad. Third District Conference will be Sept. 6 at IVH. Clutier unit received a ribbon for reaching 100% of membership goal for this past year.
It was decided to start our sewing days in September with a potluck at noon. Sewing will start at 9 a.m. followed by the meeting at 1:30 p.m.
Diane won the door prize. Happy birthday was sung for Pauline S. and Margaret B. Meeting adjourned.
The next meeting will be on Sept. 2 with sewing to start at 9 a.m.
