Hora-Machacek Unit 453 met Nov. 5

CLUTIER – The Hora-Machacek Unit 453 of the American Legion Auxiliary met on Wednesday, Nov. 5. Sewing was done on lap quilts for the VA Hospital and Clinic. Also balls of plastic bags to make mats for the homeless were worked on. Those helping were Collette, Diane, Linda, Deb, Brenda, Margaret, Julia, Rosemary, and Cindy. Veronica and Carol joined for the potluck lunch and meeting which followed at 1:30.

President Veronica opened the meeting in regular form with seven Auxiliary members and one guest present. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.

The treasurer’s report was given and placed on file. A bill was presented by Diane for a bill for Auxiliary grave markers. Deb K moved to pay the bill and Linda D seconded it and motion carried.

A report was given on the bake sale which was held the same day as the Legion’s pancake breakfast. Workers who helped with the bake sale were Collette, Diane, Linda, Bev, and Margaret.

Diane gave a report on the County meeting which was held in Toledo on Oct. 28.

Collette reported that she delivered 40 lap quilts to the Va Hospital in Iowa City. They very much appreciated them.

Collette made a motion and was seconded by Linda to make donations to the Clutier Firemen and Clutier First Responders and also pay the Legion for part of the cost of the ad for the bake sale. Motion carried.

Discussion was held on needing a few more totes for supplies for sewing days.

The next sewing day and meeting will be on Dec. 2 with a potluck at noon.
