TOLEDO – Last week’s Tama County Board of Supervisors meeting held on Monday, Nov. 10, saw a slight change to its regular dealings as Ben Daleske, the county’s engineer, was only heard, but not seen. Joining the meeting via the livestream without a picture, Daleske gave his regular update as a disembodied voice. When the supervisors attempted to ask Daleske a couple of questions about his update, technical difficulties turned the process into a slight struggle. Afterward, Supervisor David Turner inquired as to if the problem was Daleske’s computer or the supervisors’ computer. Supervisor Curt Kupka pointed out that Turner himself is the “IT guy” on the board, and this was met with a “Boom!” from Supervisor Curt Hilmer.
Daleske’s update stated that they are working and ditch digging along 260th Street and B Avenue and south of E66 on V Avenue. All the trucks have their snow fronts on for winter. Hopefully, the guardrail for the E43 (aka Duponda) project will be placed at the end of the week. They are still waiting for PCI to pour concrete on S Avenue for the open railing. Manatt’s has finished the first lift of asphalt and will be placing the surface soon, depending on the weather.
The supervisors approved putting moratoriums in place for Data Mining and Centers, as well as Battery Storage projects.
The supervisors approved the final plans for the bridge replacement project on E29.
North Risk Partners gave their regular report.
The supervisors approved advertising the county crop and pasture land for rent.
The supervisors approved the county treasurer to open an account at Toledo State Bank for the EMS account and transfer the EMS funds from the Lincoln Savings Bank to Toledo State Bank. They also approved the treasurer, treasurer tax assistant, and auditor as signers on the account.
The Annual Urban Renewal Report was approved.
The supervisors approved a variance from the Board of Adjustment.
Claims totaling $222,342.99 were approved.
