RURAL DYSART – Join the Tallgrass Prairie Center and local conservationist Cathy Irvine for evening strolls at Irvine Prairie (1174 55th St., Dysart) on the fourth Mondays of the month, beginning in March. Come enjoy the prairie with neighbors and friends; all ages are welcome!

Throughout the season, we will be joined by partners and guest speakers to lead walks on topics that showcase different aspects of Irvine Prairie. Additionally, we invite you to participate in a read-along of John Madson’s “Where the Sky Began.” Pick up a copy in April and join us in June and July to discuss the book that Cathy says inspired her gift of Irvine Prairie.

Upcoming Monday Walks

-March 23: Stretch your legs after a long winter and explore the prairie at the turn of the season.

-April 27: Learn more about prescribed fire and pick up a copy of “Where the Sky Began” by John Madson. A limited number of copies will be available.

-May 25: Stay tuned for the announcement of our first guest speaker.

All walks begin at 6 p.m. near the parking area by the Irvine Prairie rock. Please come prepared for the weather. Water, closed-toe shoes, and long pants are recommended. In the event of inclement weather, walks will be canceled.

Irvine Prairie walks will continue on the fourth Monday of each month through September, with additional walks June 8 and July 6.
