TRAER – The Traer Chamber of Commerce hosted the community’s annual Easter egg hunt on Saturday, April 4, in Taylor Park. Chamber members stuffed and hid more than 1,000 colorful plastic eggs this year for children aged 0-10 to collect. Despite the wind chill Saturday morning registering in the low-20s and northwest winds sustained at nearly 20 mph, the event was well attended with most youngsters dressed in layers – some even in snowsuits! – as they fanned out below the park’s gazebo searching for hidden eggs. Afterwards, children had the opportunity to visit with local farmer Rebecca Dostal’s cute bunnies and chicks. The Easter Bunny herself was also on hand, posing for photos and handing out sweet treats on a bench next to the gazebo. Area Easter egg hunts were also held on Saturday in Clutier, Dysart, Garwin, and Gladbrook.
