Peoples Clinic to officially open May 4
TRAER – In a follow-up to last week’s progress update on Traer’s new Peoples Community Health Clinic satellite clinic set to open in the former MercyOne building located downtown and owned by the non-profit North Tama Medical Associates, the official opening is now set for Monday, May 4, 2026.
“Our official opening will be on May 4,” Peoples Clinic marketing specialist Libby Mann told the newspaper in a Friday, April 3 email. “We plan to have an open house shortly after to welcome the Traer community, but we are still working on setting a final date.”
Last week Thursday (April 3), North Tama Medical Associates board members reached out to the newspaper with an update on the clinic opening which had been set for sometime in mid-April. In addition to sharing the planned May 4 opening, board members said a provider for the new clinic has been hired by Peoples.
Bringing local pharmacy services back to the community is a continued work-in-progress, board members also told the newspaper, following the abrupt shuttering on Tuesday, March 31 of Traer’s NuCara Pharmacy by its parent company in the wake of OneroRX’s acquisition of NuCara. NuCara pharmacies in Ackley, Conrad, and Zearing were also shuttered.
“Our team has been examining different solutions in response to the NuCara Pharmacy closure, although no solution has been decided thus far,” Mann told the newspaper prior to the pharmacy’s last day in operation.
