The Tama County Legion Auxiliary Convention was held in Traer Legion Hall on April 22, 1957. A flag ceremony presented the flags of each of the 11 local Legion Auxiliary units. The program included a memorial ceremony by the Clutier group; reports from the president of each local unit, a luncheon; an address by third district president, Mrs. Don Swartzbaugh of Vinton; reports from the county officers; and the election and installation of new officers. Ethel Hoskey of Toledo succeeded Majorie Bauer of Dysart as president; Evelyn Caloud of Clutier was elected vice-president; Harriet Lovestad of Garwin was elected secretary; and Stell Nelson of Gladbrook was elected Treasurer. The group endorsed Maxine Jackson of Tama as a candidate for Third District President. A total of 104 members attended from Tama County as well as the Iowa Third District Auxiliary officers. Essie’s Kitchen Band and Traer high school students provided entertainment. The convention opened with the Pledge of Allegiance and closed with the National Anthem.
The Kubik-Finch Legion purchased the building at 606 Second Street from the C. F. Wetzel family in 1944. The Hall was on the second floor, and Magnussen Hardware Store rented the first floor retail space. The Kubik-Finch American Legion later moved to Traer Memorial Building and sold the building to Paul and Gertrude Altenhein a few years later. The building was last occupied by the Wind-Up Lounge.
