Billie L. Kosnar, 79

Billie L. Kosnar, 79, of Conrad and formerly of Dysart, passed away at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines on Thursday, August 15, 2013. Service will be held at the United Methodist Church in Dysart on Thursday, August 22, 2013, at 11 a.m. with visitation one hour prior.

Billie Lou Kosnar was born August 30, 1933 at Dysart, IA, daughter of Gilbert and Emma Barkdoll Dicken. She was raised in Dysart received her education in the Dysart schools where she graduated in 1952. In July of 1952 she was united in marriage to Lester Kosnar at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA and they later divorced. Billie made her home most of her life in Iowa and for a time in Chicago where she was employed by O’Connor Cleaners for 15 years. More recently she has made her home in Conrad and her death came at the Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, on Thursday, August 15, 2013 at the age of 79 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son Kendall Lynn Kosnar, a grandson Edward Casey Brent, one brother Bob Dicken and several aunts, uncles and friends. She is survived by her children Larry Lee (Elaine Thurman) Kosnar of Gladbrook, IA, Kenneth Lester Kosnar of Beaman, IA, Gary Ray Kosnar of Grundy Center, IA and Michelle (Ben VandenOever) Kosnar of Union, IA, 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
