Movies are a beautiful and important part of society. They contribute to a society’s culture such as Star Wars a profound impact. The visual impact of this film and other films is a large influence on the populace. This is why going to the cinema is and will continue to be an important part of society. While what parts of the movie going experience may have changed, going to movies remains as one of the best activities to do.

Going to movies many years ago would have been a fun time. Old movie theaters made movies appear more important. These theaters look gorgeous in old pictures. Seeing the stars of Hollywood on the silver screen was a formal occasion. This is a stark difference than today’s standards. Today’s movie theaters do not have the elegance of theaters from the past. I never enjoy the squishy feeling of stepping on a pop stain in the Cedar Falls or Waterloo movie theaters.

Drive in movies would be another cool experience. Drive in movies are a very unique experience compared to any other of watching movies. Sitting in a car and listening through speakers to a movie on a large projector screen next to other vehicles sounds amazing. Only a large truck parked in front of my car could ruin the experience. Finding the best parking spot is important while this experience is also the perfect date night. The intimacy of the car provides embers to a couple’s night which could not be enjoyed in a typical movie theater.

Production quality has improved. With the advent of digital technology, movie makers have more flexibility to create new work in post-production. Film has almost become obsolete because of digital technology. The Marvel movies could not exist without the superb computer-generated imagery (CGI). This is made possible because of digital technology and this feat was not possible with only film. Editing movies is a lot easier with digital technology because it is done with the click of a mouse. With film, movie makers would have to physically cut the film strips.

Digital technology has also provided a cheaper alternative for amateur movie makers. Digital cameras and cheap editing software can make movies near the quality of Hollywood movies. YouTube is a wonderful website where plenty of people’s work exists. In the past, this could have never happened because of the price of movie making equipment. This fortunately balances the scale a little more towards amateur movie makers than the Hollywood elite.

While going to the movies back in the past or going to drive in films are experiences I wish I were around to experience, nothing is better than the current state of movies. Everyone can contribute to this state by making their own movies or video content. Creativity is at the forefront with digital movie making technology. It is an important time to go to YouTube and other video websites and seek out this amazing content.
