The bane of my existence is formal wear because I love my t-shirts and athletic shorts. This attire was popular every day attire many years ago, formal wear is now only worn at appropriate events. This evolution is like the television. Televisions became crisper and clearer while clothes became simpler and easier to wear. While older generations consider formal attire more important at social events, younger generations do not see as much of an importance. With everything in life, many positives and negatives exist with formal wear.

The positives of formal wear are plenty. Wearing a nice suit or tuxedo gives a person the feeling of being like James Bond. Nothing is classier than wearing a good suit. This classiness and sophistication raises a person’s social profile. Respect is earned from wearing a suit compared to a person wearing a t-shirt and athletic shorts. Formal wear would stand out in today’s society because it is not the norm. Men in suits and women in beautiful dresses would give a rebirth to society’s culture. This uniqueness would cause more individuals to follow suit and get rid of society’s flat bill baseball hats and other poor fashion choices. The term suave would reenter society’s lexicon.

While wearing formal attire in today’s society is great for many reasons, a few negative reasons do exist. The biggest negative is the cost. While Goodwill has good options, nothing is better than a fresh bought suit. Attire like this does not come cheap like it did in yesteryears. The time to put on formal wear is long. It is much easier to slip on a t-shirt and shorts than to button up a long sleeve shirt and tie a tie. Putting on a polo and jeans are also much faster than putting on a suit. Another negative is on a hot summer day wearing formal attire is exhausting. I wore one for a wedding, and it was not fun because of the sweat pouring down. Wearing a suit every day during summer would not be fun.

Taking into consideration the positives and negatives of wearing formal attire, formal wear should be brought back to today’s society. This attire is classy and gives society a better culture. While the cost is high, everybody going out and buying formal wear would lower the prices. The reason being more companies would create formal wear clothing line driving the price down for consumers. This is crucial to formal wear being a part of mainstream society. Dressing in this nice and wonderful attire allows society to achieve a new place. Being on the forefront of technology and classiness is a new and best standard for a society. With this reason, I would face the bane of my existence head on and suit up for the sake of society.
