Update from the Iowa Capitol

State Sen. Eric Giddens (D-Cedar Falls)

I wish each of you holidays that are full of warmth and cheer. As we celebrate with family and friends, we are also looking ahead to the year to come. May it bring peace, love, and joy to all of us. If I can be of help now or in the year ahead, please call me at 515-371-5990 or email me at eric.giddens@legis.iowa.gov.

January 15 deadline to enroll for affordable health insurance

If you, or someone you know, do not have affordable healthcare coverage, the deadline to sign up is January 15, 2023. That’s the deadline to join or change/renew their coverage in the affordable federal Marketplace health insurance through January 15, 2023.

For eligibility, applications, health plans, and assistance, visit healthcare.gov or call 1-800-318-2596.

Drive sober this holiday season

Through the holidays, Iowa law enforcement expands its efforts to remove impaired drivers and help save lives. In addition to risking your own and other people’s lives, being pulled over for an OWI can cost you $10,000 in attorney’s fees, fines, repairs and lost time at work. If you are celebrating, plan ahead for a sober ride home.
