A Cookie Contest will be held on the 4th of July in the Dysart City Park at the Closed Shelterhouse. The categories are: Youth (under 16 years of age), and Adult (over 16 years of age.) The arrival time for entries is between 2:30-3:15 p.m. with the judging beginning at 3:30 p.m. Each person entering will receive a certificate for a free cone at the Dysart Drive-In. There will be a silent auction immediately following the judging which will consist of 1 doz. of each kind of cookies being auctioned off. The winners will be announced at the Talent Show later that afternoon. The prizes will consist of (for both Youth and Adult): 1st, $25; 2nd, $15; and 3rd, $10. The Cookie Contest is sponsored by Overton Funeral Home. Use your favorite recipe or get creative to make the most decadent cookies. Cookies will be judged on taste, uniformity, appearance, consistency, and originality. Bring 1 dozen cookies on a sturdy, non-returnable covered plate. Also bring 3 extra cookies on a small covered paper plate to be used for judging.
