Lottery ticket fraud alleged after burglary

A burglary of a Dysart convenience store which reportedly netted Iowa Lottery tickets among items taken has resulted in charges against a Waterloo man.

Jonathan Henry Martin, 33, was charged on April 14 by Dysart Police Officer Joe Hols with fraud for cashing tickets stolen in a Nov. 26, 2015, burglary of the Casey’s General Store in Dysart. Martin is accused of cashing 26 stolen tickets in Waterloo the next day. It is alleged Martin went on to cash nine stolen tickets in North Liberty, 17 tickets in Coralville and 10 tickets in Iowa City.

Martin also faces a 2nd degree burglary charge filed by Tama County Attorney Brent Heeren which accuses him of the Casey’s burglary.

Martin is scheduled to be arraigned on the charges on May 5.

On line Iowa prison records show Martin is currently being held at the Iowa Medical and classification Center at Oakdale.
